    • Cordycepin and Its Application in Pig Husbandry

      Abstract:After the promulgation of “Prohibited Antibiotics”,and “substitutes for antibiotics” became a hot topic in the livestock industry.Cordycepin,the core active ingredient of Cordyceps militaris,has broadspectrum antibacterial,antioxidant and immunomodulatory functions,and has outstanding advantages such as natural materials and chemical components,less likely to develop drug resistance,and no harmful residues in vivo,which may contribute to the replacement of antibiotics.This article mainly reviews the sources,synthesis methods and pharmacological effects of cordycepin,and focuses on the application progress of cordycepin in pig husbandry,hoping to provide some reference information for the development of cordycepin products and their application in pig breeding.

      Abstract:Since 2018,the Anding District of Dingxi City in Gansu Province has been affected by factors such as African swine fever,the COVID19 pandemic,and intensified farming.As a result,the duration of the pig breeding cycle has become shorter,and the price fluctuations have become more frequent and significant,posing high risks for farmers.To stabilize pig prices and mitigate farming risks,it is suggested to improve information monitoring,develop characteristic pig farming practices,and introduce “insurance+futures” services,which can help alleviate the frequency of pig price fluctuations and reduce farming risks for farmers.

      Abstract:Since 2017 in Bijie City,in accordance with the principles of supporting grass and livestock,balancing production and sales,Bijie City has actively promoted the “grain to feed” policy,developed a highquality forage industry mainly based on silage corn,guided the project county's cattle and sheep breeding to moderately transition from corn grain feeding to whole plant silage feeding,and made good progress.The city has also summarized experiences and practices such as focusing on cultivating the main body of collection and storage,organizing and ensuring work,and implementing subsidy funds,As well as three typical technical models of close integration of planting and adoption,close integration of adoption,and professional harvesting and storage,significant results have been achieved,effectively promoting the development of herbivorous animal husbandry in the city and driving the increase in production and income of a large number of silage corn planting farmers.

      Abstract:China's chicken industry is developing towards largescale,intensive and industrialization.As one of the important raw materials of manure,its byproduct chicken manure has become a research hotspot in the development and utilization of biomass energy in new energy.Aerobic composting is one of the most commonly used and most economical and effective treatment methods for manure fertilization.However,traditional aerobic composting has the disadvantages of slow initiation,long cycle,large carbon and nitrogen loss,poor product quality,more odor emissions,antibiotic residues,and excessive heavy metals,which hinder the development of the safe utilization of manure resources.In this paper,the effects of endogenous parameters and exogenous additives on chicken manure aerobic composting and the effects of chicken manure aerobic composting on antibiotic reduction and heavy metal passivation were reviewed,aiming to provide reference for the development and utilization of chicken manure resources and the promotion of green and sustainable development of agriculture.

      Abstract:The integrity and accuracy of the chicken genome hold significant implications for the study of vertebrate evolution and the understanding of avian biological characteristics. Additionally, it plays an essential role in deciphering the genetic mechanisms of poultry and in the improvement of genetic breeding. The nearly complete chicken genome map was recently published, but genetic variation studies using this genome as a reference have not been widely conducted.This study aims to evaluate the differences and advantages of GGswu1 and the current chicken reference genome GRCg7b. Based on 60 publicly available chicken wholegenome resequencing data and 103 chicken transcriptome data collected, a comprehensive assessment and comparison of the two reference genomes were conducted in terms of assembly quality, alignment rate, SNPs detection capability, and completeness of gene assembly.The results indicate that, compared to GRCg7b, GGswu1 has achieved a significant improvement in assembly quality and has also improved the completeness of gene assembly to some extent, demonstrating considerable potential in genetic variation analysis. These findings aid with a more precise understanding of the differences and advantages between these two genome assembly versions and offer a reference for future functional research of the chicken genome and indepth exploration of poultry genetic resources.

    • Study on Inhibitory Effect of Honokiol on Water Fungus Spores

      Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of honokiol (HNK) on water fungus spores and to analyse its possible mechanism of action.In the experiment,drug media with different concentrations of HNK (512,256,128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1 mg/L) were prepared by double dilution method,and the recovered water fungus was inoculated on the media by rapeseed culture method,and the germination of water fungus spores was observed 24 h later to determine the inhibition concentration of HNK on water fungus spores.At the same time,the concentration of HNK with obvious inhibitory effect was selected,and the effect of HNK on the ultrastructure of water fungus spores was analysed by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope respectively.The results showed that at the concentration of 48 mg/L,the morphological observation showed that after HNK treatment,the spore cells were relatively severely damaged and showed severe edema.The intracellular matrix was sparse and dissolved,and the organelles were swollen.Massive cell membrane disintegration and plasmic wall separation.The results of this study showed that HNK caused obvious damage to the intracellular structure of spore and inhibited the growth and germination of spore at appropriate concentration.

    • Comparison of Weight Gain Effects between Fully Mixed Diet and Traditional Feeding Methods for Beef Cattle

      Abstract:In order to tap into the development potential of the beef cattle industry in Jiuquan City and screen for scientific feeding methods that can improve the utilization rate of forage,we used three different feeding methods: mechanical processing full mixed diet,artificial mixed diet,and traditional feeding in three beef cattle farms with different breeding scales,software and hardware facilities,and feeding management levels.We continuously fed beef cattle for 200 days and analyzed and compared the weight gain effects of various feeding methods.The results showed that compared to artificial mixed feed and traditional feeding methods,the daily weight gain of beef cattle increased by more than 9% and 18%,respectively;The differences were both significant (P<0.05) and extremely significant (P<0.01).Experiments have shown that the technology of fully mixed diet feeding can significantly improve the daily weight gain of beef cattle,which is an advanced technology that can improve the utilization rate of feed,reduce breeding costs,and promote the highquality development of the beef cattle industry.

      Abstract:The purpose of this experiment is to study the transformation of crop straw into highquality pellet feed,to realize the effective utilization of resources,and to crush crop straw into pellet straw feed by adding refined feed and additives,give full play to its straw feed nutritional value.The feed rate is generally controlled between 3%-6% and moisture content between 14%-16% .About 5% oil,egg or molasses was added into straw granules of grass crops.Particle diameter generally in 10-30 mm,depending on livestock,can improve their livestock palatability and the use of resources value.Through scientific processing of crop straw,it can improve its application value,provide sustainable feed source for animal husbandry,and turn crop straw waste into treasure.

    • Study on the Prevention of Diarrhea in Calves with Compound Feed of Residues

      Abstract:In beef cattle production,calf diarrhea is a gastrointestinal disease with dyspepsia and diarrhea as the main symptoms.Lactating calves are more prone to diarrhea,accounting for about 80% of the incidence rate of calves.Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus acidophilus in the complex feed of residue can promote the proliferation and growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine,effectively prevent calf diarrhea,and improve calf survival rate.Twenty 70 day pregnant Western hybrid cows were selected from the second animal husbandry farm of Gansu Wuwei Dingle Animal Husbandry Co.,Ltd.The defecation status of pregnant cows,lactating cows,and calves was measured and observed;The comprehensive diarrhea rate and fecal score of calves within 15 days of birth and within 90 to 120 days of age.The application of residue composite feed can reduce the diarrhea rate of 0-15 d old calves by 5.3%,weaned calves by 2.3%,reduce gastrointestinal diseases in calves,improve feed digestibility,and effectively prevent calf diarrhea.Feeding pregnant cattle with a complex feed of dregs can effectively prevent calf diarrhea and improve calf survival rate.

    • Effects of Chinese Herbal Feed Additives on Performance and Blood Biochemical Indexes of Meat Sheep

      Abstract:To investigate the effects of Chinese herbal additives on growth performance and blood biochemical indexes of Barmei meat sheep,100 6monthold meat sheep with similar body weight and good body condition were randomly divided into 2 groups (experimental group and control group) with 5 replicates per group and 10 sheep per replicate.The experimental group was fed with 0.5% Chinese herbal additives in the diet for 30 days,and the control group only fed the basic diet.Growth performance and blood biochemical indexes were measured after feeding for 30 days.The results showed as follows:Compared with the control group,the final weight and average daily gain feed to meat ratio of experimental group increased by 2.79% and 18.18%,respectively,and the feed to meat ratio decreased by 14.28%.The average daily gain and ratio of feed to meat were significantly different from control group (P<0.05).Total protein (TP) and globulin (GLO) were increased by 14.69% and 34.66%,respectively.TP and GLO were significantly higher than control group (P<0.05),aspartate transferase (AST),alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and creatine kinase (CK) were decreased by 28.29%,24.14% and 29.57,respectively.AST,ALT and CK were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05).Studies have shown that adding 0.5% of Chinese herbal additives to the diet can effectively improve the production performance of mutton sheep,and can play a positive and effective role in blood biochemical indexes.

      Abstract:This paper designs the environment monitoring system of the brooding chicken house based on the Internet of Things technology.After constructing the overall structure in the monitoring system design,it is carried out from the software and hardware.The main functions include environmental temperature and humidity monitoring of the brooding chicken house,monitoring of harmful gas concentration,automatic heating,and alarm system.After the main function design,the system is debugged from the software and hardware,the overall function of the design system meets the requirements of the internal monitoring system of the brooding chicken house environment.It can help improve the management ability of the breeding chicken house and reduce the labor cost invested in the management.

      Abstract:Under pure grazing conditions in alpine grasslands,yaks experience negative weight gain for over 6 months during the cold season each year,resulting in a weight loss of approximately 20% to 25% after each cold season.The significant loss of fat during the cold season directly causes significant losses to livestock products,reduces the weight gain rate and increases mortality rate of yaks,and has a serious negative impact on the yak industry.At the same time,it indirectly affects the reproductive performance,milk production performance,and offspring growth and development performance of yaks.Therefore,the significant weight loss during the cold season affects every aspect of yak production,and even the decisive external factor for whether or not it is in heat during the warm season.The significant loss of fat during the cold season not only causes huge direct economic losses,but also causes much greater indirect losses than direct losses.Reducing the weight loss of yaks during the cold season is also the key to improving the production level of the yak industry.

      Abstract:Dingxi City has a large number of meat sheep which is widely distributed in the area.However,the genetic resources there are scarce,and the reproductive rates of meat sheep are low and the lambs grow slowly.The integration of highefficiency meat sheep production technology aims to upgrade conventional meat sheep production to highquality fat lamb production.This is achieved through the integration of five key technologies:optimal breed introduction,precise functional positioning,key breeding techniques,scientific hybrid improvement techniques,and ecological circular breeding techniques.This integration promotes industry transformation and upgrading,enhances the level of meat sheep development,and effectively increases profits in the breeding sector.

      Abstract:Minxian black fur sheep is a unique sheep breed in Gansu Province,which grows under the natural conditions of high altitude,thin air,variable climate,and long dry grass period.Due to the growth environment and characteristics of the flock,there are small population sizes,scattered breeding,low operating efficiency,and a single pedigree origin of the population,resulting in serious degradation of the breed and the risk of extinction of germplasm resources.The key technology research project of Minxian black fur sheep conservation and expansion has improved the breeding and breeding of the breed by establishing a “one field and seven groups” conservation and breeding system model.After 3 years of operation,significant achievements have been made in terms of population size and breed quality.This article discusses the system structure,operation,operation results,measures taken by the project,and proposes conservation suggestions on seed preserration.It is hoped to further promote the protection and utilization of Minxian black fur sheep.

    • Investigation on Market Chain of Introduced Live Cattle and Sheep from Outside the Province in Hunan Province from 2022 to 2023

      Abstract:In order to investigate the source and direction of cattle and sheep transferred from other provinces in Hunan Province,the market chain was investigated through the "Muyuntong" platform from 2022 to 2023.The results showed that a total of 15 030 batches of 338 700 heads cattle were transferred from outside Hunan Province,and a total of 5 964 batches of 1 170 500 heads cattle were transferred from outside Hunan Province,involving 27 provinces,113 100 cattle and 76 500 sheep were transferred from outside the province for further breeding.There were 74 300 cattle and 16 900 sheep from bruceopathy immune areas.The national transport policy was not strictly enforced in some areas.We found that most of the cattle and sheep were directly raised in mixed herds without isolation or testing,and the risk of infectious diseases such as brucellosis was greater.It is suggested to further strengthen the transportation supervision of cattle and sheep,and strengthen publicity to reduce the risks of epidemics.

      Abstract:Animal manure refers to the feces,urine,and sewage produced by livestock and poultry during the breeding production process,as well as the mixture of feces,urine,and water formed with flushing water.Livestock and poultry farming manure has a wide range of uses and is a valuable resource.If properly treated and utilized,it will turn waste into treasure and can be used for organic fertilizer production,special breeding,biogas power generation,and feed raw materials (chicken manure reuse).Integrating livestock and poultry manure into the production and recycling system,using physical,chemical,and biological methods for harmless treatment,turning livestock and poultry manure into usable resources,is of great significance for improving the ecological environment of animal husbandry,reducing the spread of livestock and poultry diseases,achieving increased income in aquaculture,and promoting fertilizer reduction.The article combines the current situation of livestock and poultry manure treatment and resource utilization in our province to discuss some personal thoughts and suggestions.

    • Comparison of Detection Results of 6 Kinds of Diagnostic Reagents for Brucellosis

      Abstract:In order to compare the performance of different brucellosis diagnostic reagents in laboratory tests,In this study,96 samples of cow serum were detected by 4 methods,including rose bengal plate agglutination test (RBT),serum agglutination test (SAT),indirect enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (iELISA) and competitive enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (cELISA),and 6 different reagents.SAT results were used as the gold standard.The sensitivity,specificity and coincidence rate of the other 5 diagnostic reagents were analyzed,and the consistency of the detection results of different reagents with the same method was analyzed.The results showed that 3 positive samples and 93 negative samples were detected by SAT.RBT,iELISAA and iELISAB showed the highest sensitivity (100.00%) compared with SAT.The specificity of RBT and cELISAC was the highest (98.92%).The coincidence rates of RBT,iELISAA and cELISAC were all above 91.67%.The consistency between iELISAA and iELISAB and between cELISAC and cELISAD was poor.The results of this study provided reference for the selection of diagnostic reagents to improve the diagnostic accuracy.

      Abstract:Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is one of the viral diseases affecting the global pig industry,and it is also called "blue ear disease" in China.PRRS is infected by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV),which is widespread in China and has caused serious economic losses to pig industry.PRRSV can cause immunosuppression in pigs,thereby increasing the probability of bacterial secondary infection,and thus affecting the immune effect of other vaccines.In addition,PRRSV inhibits the host immune response,which is conducive to the persistence of PRRSV infection.Current commercial vaccines cannot meet the requirements of both efficacy and safety,and the application of live attenuated vaccines further increases the probability of PRRSV mutation and recombination,making PRRS one of the most challenging viral infectious diseases in the world.This paper summarized and analyzed the difficulties of PRRS prevention and control,and put forward prevention and control suggestions for pigs under different conditions,in order to provide thoughts for PRRS prevention and control and purification.

      Abstract:Recently,a largescale pig breeding farm in Hunan Province has been experiencing persistent diseases characterized by piglet diarrhea in the delivery room.Based on clinical symptoms and experience,the farm has always believed that it is caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus.However,after measures such as prenatal immunization and re feeding of sows,the effect is still poor.To identify the cause,RTPCR was used to detect porcine infectious gastroenteritis virus,porcine epidemic diarrhea virus,and porcine rotavirus virus in 20 fecal swab samples submitted for testing;The results showed that 17 of them were positive for porcine rotavirus nucleic acid,while the other two pathogens were negative for nucleic acid,indicating that the pathogen causing piglet diarrhea in the pig farm was porcine rotavirus.In addition,there were deficiencies in feeding management,which led to the continuous occurrence of the disease in the pig farm.In recent years,due to the high incidence of diarrhea caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus and porcine infectious gastroenteritis virus,awareness of other viral diseases that cause diarrhea has been neglected,treatment has been delayed,and losses have increased.This is worthy of attention and reference by relevant practitioners.

      Abstract:Dairy goat mastitis is the most common disease in dairy goat breeding,which is mainly caused by pathogenic microorganisms,physical and chemical factors.In most cases,although the disease will not cause the death of the affected dairy goats,it can have a serious impact on the health of dairy goats,milk production and milk quality,and greatly reduce the economic benefits of enterprises.At present,the most difficult problems in the prevention and treatment of mastitis in dairy goats are:1.The incidence of subclinical mastitis is high and screening is difficult;2.Pathogenic microorganisms showed high resistance to antibiotics;3.There is currently no commercial vaccines for dairy goat mastitis.In recent years,domestic and foreign scholars have conducted a lot of researches on the above prevention and control difficulties.This paper discusses the prevalence,diagnosis and treatment of dairy goat mastitis,aiming to provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of dairy goat mastitis.

      Abstract:Purification is an effective measure to control brucellosis.In this paper,the antibody of brucellosis was detected by RoseBengal Plate Agglutination Test and competitive ELISA test,so as to purify a sheep farm in Wunan Town,Liangzhou District,and summarize the purification practice and exploration experience,laying a foundation for the purification of animal diseases in Liangzhou District.

      Abstract:Live animal transportation is a significant route for the spread of animal diseases,with most major outbreaks associated with longdistance transportation.The Revised Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of 2021 stipulates that “animals transported across provincial,autonomous regional,or directly governed municipal borders via road transport must pass through designated channels established by the respective provincial,autonomous regional or directly governed municipal governments when entering or transiting through the province”.Yunnan,renowned for its largescale livestock and poultry framing,experiences frequent livestock transportation activities.The Animal Designated Channel Inspection Station (hereinafter referred to as the inspection station),serves as the primary point for animal entry inspection into the province.The efficacy of the inspection station’s efforts in preventing and controlling major animal epidemics is of paramount importance.The Yunnan Provincial Animal Health Inspection and Quarantine Institute is the regulatory body overseeing the specific implementation of checkpoints within the province.In recent years,based on local conditions and despite constraints in personnel and funding,the institute has continuously explored new supervisory methods,achieving breakthroughs in the standardized construction of stations and innovative informationbased supervision models,effectively enhancing the operational of inspection stations.

      Abstract:The total output value of China's livestock industry has exceeded 3 trillion yuan,making it a vital industry supporting the livelihoods of over 200 million employed individuals and contributing to morethan 60% of the cash income of farmers and herdsmen.The cultivation of moral character and shaping of individuals is the fundamental mission of universities,serving as the foundation for nurturing high-quality talents in China's characteristic livestock industry in the new era.The field of smart livestock management is a new discipline that emerged in the era of artificial intelligence and bigdata.Animal Nutrition and Precision Feeding is a core foundational course that integrates traditional animal nutrition knowledge with artificial intelligence and big data.Following the BOPPPS teaching model,this course incorporates cases of ideological education into the process of imparting knowledge.This not only helps students strengthen their political identity,cultural confidence,and moral cultivation but also facilitates their understanding of the knowledge and difficulties in animal nutrition and precision feeding through the use of ideological education cases.This article will use protein nutrition as an example to introduce the practice and exploration of integrating ideological education into BOPPPS teaching in the course of Animal Nutrition and Precision Feeding.

      Abstract:Teaching materials are an important carrier for higher vocational colleges to train high-quality and skilled personnel.According to the teaching standards of animal husbandry and veterinary specialty in higher vocational colleges and the principle of “student-oriented” vocational education concept and “teaching materials and learning materials in one”,this paper discusses the compilation of new loose-leaf teaching materials by taking animal husbandry and veterinary specialty of Shandong Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Vocational College as an example.Based on the background of the integration of production and education,the “post course competition certificate” is integrated,and efforts are made to realize the zero docking of teaching materials with industries and enterprises,providing new ideas for the development of new loose-leaf teaching materials for animal husbandry and veterinary majors in higher vocational colleges.
