Abstract:With the development of molecular biotechnology, a new animal breeding method - molecular breeding came into being in 2001. This technology makes up for the shortcomings of traditional breeding, and has the advantages of shortening generation interval and reducing breeding cost. As an important part of animal husbandry industry, sheep breeding is an urgent problem to be solved. Therefore, this paper reviewed the principles, algorithms and genotyping methods of genome selection, and summarized the application of genome selection technology in sheep breeding and the challenges faced by this technology in the application, in order to provide theoretical reference for future sheep breeding research.
