农业兴则国家兴，全面推进乡村振兴是新时代建设农业强国的重要任务。习近平总书记在中央农村工作会议上强调：“要全面推进产业、人才、文化、生态、组织‘五个振兴’，统筹部署、协同推进，抓住重点、补齐短板。”足见乡村振兴在实现农业强国梦中的战略地位和产业振兴在乡村振兴中扮演的重要角色，而畜牧产业作为农业的支柱产业，是产业振兴中增长势头最强劲的产业之一，也是现代化基础最实、相关优势最好的农业产业。本文着重从畜牧业高质量发展的意义和重要性、韩城畜牧业发展现状及存在问题进行探索分析，并针对性提出了意见建议。
